"What to Do After Level 30" and "A MIxed Bag" Arts PD
This year, both professional development sessions were held concurrently on the same day in the term 3 school holidays, on September 29th.
There were 2 sessions available on the day. The first session, “What to do after level 30” had 51 bookings and the afternoon session “A Mixed Bag” Arts PD had 41 bookings. The PD committee worked very hard setting up the Ardtornish School Gym and it was transformed into an exciting and welcoming environment.
This was the second time that the "What to do after level 30", pd session had been held. This PD concentrates on what to do when the students have become independent readers and how to use the school library as the basis for your reading program.
The "Mixed Bag" Arts Pd demonstrated how to embed children's literature into the curriculum, with a strong focus on the arts and literacy. Kristin Martin, poet and Lauren Mullinder children's book illustrator presented workshops on poetry writing and creating a and drawing a curious creature, in this case a dragon.
There were two wonderful raffle prizes on the day. Both were sketches made by children's illustrator Greg Holfeld and he kindly donated a selection on signed books as part of the prize.
The “Mixed Bag” Arts PD PowerPoint is now ready for sale and is available for purchase on our website.

Lauren Mullinder ran a filming test of the PD sessions, hiring the equipment we needed. It will be possible for us to live stream an event in the future.
Thank you to Brenda George, Lauren Mullinder, Kathryn Beilby and Kate Jones for the many hours of work they spent making the art, the PowerPoint and setting up the gym. Thank you to our SA Branch Director for helping with the heavy lifting.
Thank you to our sponsors, Greenlight Comics for providing the morning attendees with a package of comics, Scholastic for the goodie bags and promotional items attendees could claim and Pegi Williams for 5 $20 book vouchers.
